Position: Point of Contact (POC) (Part-Time/Full-Time) *Pool Position
Location: Delta, CO
Purpose: Partner with families and learners to plan and execute an individualized education experience.
Pay scale: $15,948-$26,703 per year
Hours/Week: 20-25 (Exempt, Part-Time)
Working Days/ Year: 187 *Paid for additional 10 days that are not working days
Benefits: Full Time positions qualifies for Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) benefits and qualifies for health, dental, life, and long term disability insurance benefits. This position also qualifies for a leave package.
Qualifications:
- Education/Certification: High Diploma or Equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check to work in a school.
Special Knowledge: The right candidate will have experience in homeschool (individualized learning) models and programs, as well as, excellent communication skills.
Experience: A minimum of one year experience with student instruction and/or coaching with preference given to candidates who have experience in the homeschool model.
Skills and abilities:
Required
- Coaching skills for guiding, training and empowering parents and learners to homeschool successfully.
- Knowledge of MTSS, special education, gifted, and 504 planning and implementation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to balance a collaborative relationship with the accountability required.
Preferred:
- Experience or expertise in the homeschool experience (individualized learning)
- Knowledge of path to High School to graduation, ICAP, dropout prevention and high school credit.
Major responsibilities and duties:
- Build relationships with learners and families as collaborative partners in education.
- Ensure parent and learner engagement:
- Coaching parents on all VCA requirements
- Connecting families with other VCA staff
- Relay important VCA information to families and learners
- Guide high school and post-secondary planning discussions connecting all members of learner’s consensus group.
- Interact with learner and parent at regular meetings based upon learner/parent support needs.
- Maintain regular office hours (20 hours – 8 must be with the full team):
- Facilitate and promote at least four content specific opportunities:
- ICAP
- Test Prep
- Other
- Design dynamic monthly high school content events alongside content HQCs.
- Document regularly for student learning, attendance, all pertinent information to ensure learner success and compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards.
- Participate in success coaching with a coach utilizing weekly trainings, observations, artifacts and debriefs.
Carry out other organizational requirements as necessary including, but not limited to:
- Assist with proctoring Learner assessments as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with the staff members, learners, parents, administrators, andother contact persons.
- Participate in employee evaluation and professional development opportunities.
- Attend meetings, trainings, committees as required.
- Meet organizational deadlines and communication protocols.
- Accomplish organizational goals by carrying out other duties relevant to position as assigned by the supervisor.
Working Conditions:
- This position works in a normal office environment with a portion performed on site and the other portion has optional remote work ability.
- Long periods of sitting, standing, talking on the telephone, and typing may be required.
- It is common for this position to have a fluctuated schedule.
